Garment costing is an integral aspect of the fashion and apparel industry, playing a crucial role in the overall business strategy. Accurate garment costing is essential for fashion businesses to make informed decisions about pricing, sourcing, production, and profitability. Accurate costing is essential for determining the appropriate retail price of a garment. Setting the right price point ensures that the product remains competitive in the market while generating sufficient profit margins.
Basic Information In A costing Sheet:
1. Picture: Add picture from PO sheet/Tech file.
2. Date: Write the date.
3. Buyer: Write the name of buyer from PO sheet.
4. Style: Write the style name from PO sheet/Tech file.
5. Item: Write the item name from PO sheet/Tech file.
6. Composition: Write about composition from PO sheet/Tech file.
7. Size: Write sample size as per buyer requirement in Tech file.
8. Intake: Write intake/season information from PO sheet/Tech file.
9. GSM: Write about GSM from PO sheet/Tech file.
10. Color: Write about color from PO sheet/Tech file.
11: QTY: Write order quantity from PO sheet.
Most Important Information In A costing Sheet:
1. CAD Consumption (Body+Sleeve): Collect Consumption from factory CAD section.
2. CAD Consumption (For Back Neck Tape/Single Jersey): Collect Consumption from factory CAD section.
3. CAD Consumption (For Neck RIB): Collect Consumption from factory CAD section.
4. Yarn (1): How many types of yarn we have to use to make this garments - we have to write here those name.
5. Count: Depending on the required GSM we have to calculate which count yarn we should use.
6. Price: We have to write yarn price of that required yarn count.
7. %: We will mention how many % we will use this count yarn.
8. Sewing Thread: We will take sewing thread consumption from IE department. And sewing thread price per DZN we have to calculate.
9. Accessories: Sewing Thread, Care Label, Size Sticker, Main Label, Price Tag, Carton, Polybags, Poly Sticker, Elastic, String, Gum Tape, Drawstring/Zipper/Elastic/Other Acc., RFID, Licence Label etc. We have to calculate every accessories separately and ofcourse per DZN.
10. Knitting: We have to learn knitting cost from knitting department.
11. Dying/washing/Peach/Brush/Hit Set/Process Loss: We have to collect these price from dying concern.
12. AOP/YD/Twisting: We need to collect these price from knitting department.
13. Rib Price: Rib price will be always $1.5-$2+ from total fabric price.
14. S/J for Back neck tape: S/J for Back neck tape will be always $6.30-$6.60
15. Print / Embroidar / Wash: We will take print, embroidary or wash price from print/wash/emb. factory.
16. CM: We have to take CM cost from IE department.
17. Bank /Commercial: We will keep this price always 2%-5%
19. Freight: Freight cost always will be $0.20-$0.30
20. Commission: Commission will depend on us, we can take 5% / 10% / 20% etc. according to our demand.

Summary: Today we will do a marketing costing on - 80% Cotton 20% Polyester Fleece 280 GSM, Boys solid color Trouser. Here as per buyer requirement our fabric is 80% Cotton 20% Polyester Fleece 280 GSM, and with this composition if we want to make fabric then we have to manage three types of yarn so we have take price of 30/s. Knitting price high as it is fleece fabric, Solid dying so dying price is high, process loss normal 12%, CM high according to the style. Here as per buyer requirement our fabric is 60% Cotton 40% Polyester Fleece 300 GSM, and with this composition if we want to make fabric then we have to manage three types of yarn so we have take price of 30/s, 16/s, and 75D. Knitting price high as it is fleece fabric, Solid dying so dying price is high, process loss normal 12%, CM high according to the style. Here as per buyer requirement the fabric is 100% cotton Pique and 220 GSM and for 100% cotton Pk fabric yarn count is 22/s and yarn price is $3.25, In accessories a new item Button and it's price is added. Knitting price high as it's pique fabric, dying cost high as it's solid color. Process loss 12%, CM is high as per styling. Summary: Today we will do a marketing costing on - 95% Cotton 5% Elastane Lycra Single Jersey 180 GSM. Girls solid color long pant. Here as per buyer requirement the fabric is 95% Cotton 5% Elastane Single Jersey 180 GSM so for 95% Cotton the yarn count will be 34/s and the yarn price $3.45, for 5% Elastane yarn will be 20D and price will be $10. In accessories area we have extra item Jacqard elastic and price $3.0, Knitting price high as per Lycra single jersey, dying price high cause fabric is solid dying, hit set price is added because it's lycra fabric. CM high because of more process than basic tee shirt.Here is no print/emb./wash/AOP so we did not take those price in the sheet. Here buyer asked for 100% Cotton and 180 GSM single jersey fabric, so yarn count will be 24/s and price will be $3.20 according to the yarn count. Additional accessories elastic and drawcord added in accessories list with price. Knitting price is normal, dying cost is high as here is solid dying, process loss low 12%, CM high as this is short pant and it has more process than a basic tee shirt. Here is no print/emb./wash/AOP so we did not take those price in our sheet. Summary: Today we will do a marketing costing on - 65% Polyester 30% Viscose 5% Elastane 2X2 Rib, 240 GSM. Basic round neck short sleeve girls tee. Here as buyer has asked for 65% Polyester 30% Viscose (mixed yarn) so we have taken the yarn price $2.70 accordingly, also here is another yarn 5% Elastane and so we have also taken the price $11. Based on GSM we have selected 28/s yarn count. We have collected consumption from CAD depertment 2.00 for body, 0.08 for neck tape, 0.12 for neck. Here knitting cost is high as the fabric is 2X2 rib fabric, Dying cost is $1.0 per kg as here is light color, process loss 15% for white dying, As it is lycra fabric so we have taken hit set price. Here is print and emb. in this style so we have taken print and emb. price from print and emb. factory. CM is high according to IE department based on styling. Summary: Today we will do a marketing costing on - 95% Cotton 5% Elastane 2X2 Rib 200 GSM, basic round neck short sleeve tee. Here as buyer asked for 95% Cotton and 5% Elastane so we have put yarn price $3.95 for 95% Cotton, and $10 for 5% Elastane. We have taken consumption for body, neck and back neck tape from CAD, As the fabric is 2X2 rib fabric so knitting price is $0.35 per kg as per knitting department. We have taken avarage dying price $1.20 and 13% avarage dying process loss. Also as it is lycra fabric so we have taken price for hit set. And here is no print/emb./wash/AOP etc. so we did not take the price for these. Summary: Today we will do a marketing costing on - 100% Cotton 1X1 Rib 190 GSM, mens vest / tank top. As buyer wants 100% cotton and 190 GSM so the yarn count is 32/s and it's price is $3.35 as per yarn market. Consumption as per CAD is 2.00 for body and 0.14 for binding. For 1X1 rib fabric knitting price is $0.22/$0.25 per kg, as it is light color fabric so dying cost is $1, also as it is white dying so process loss is high like 15% and here is no print/emb./wash/AOP so we did not take these price here. Here we have taken two types of yarn price one is for cotton yarn and another is for lycra yarn as we have to make a lycra fabric. Print price is added, knitting price is high than normal SJ knitting rate, dying cost is high as solid color fabric, hit set price added because for lycra types of fabric we need hit set to fix the fabric quality, dia, GSM etc. Now if you want to reduce offer price then you can reduce yarn price, print price, CM or comission % etc. Thanks.

It's same as like (PPRACTICE - 12) here is no print / emb. / wash / AOP, just PC (Cheif Value Of Polyester) fabric added instead of CVC (Cheif Value Of Cotton) fabric added. Here we have increased - Knitting price, CM (according to the styling), dying price, process loss, also added new accessories button and woven label price.
